This course is similar to the general course in that it runs throughout the year and at all levels from beginners to advanced. It is recommended for those who may have less time to study and/or who want more intensive language tuition each week. The average age is usually higher than that of the general course and student motivation is strong. Classes focus on the four main language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, and take place Monday to Friday both in the morning and the afternoon.

This school has recently moved to fantastic new premises off Nevsky Prospekt between the Russian Museum, the Mikahilovsky Zamok (built by Pavel I, son of Catherine the Great), the circus and near two attractive parks. The area offers some of the finest examples of St.Petersburg architecture and is close to the Fontanka and Neva rivers. The closest metro station (Nevsky Prospekt/Gostiny Dvor) is a five minute walk away. The school facilities in St.Petersburg include fifteen classrooms, a library with a large choice of Russian newspapers and a fine cafeteria (with freshly prepared hot and cold meals). The school is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, provides PC workstations and offers full, free internet access to all its students.

The school's administration office is also very centrally located close to the metro station Ligovsky Prospekt and is easy accessible from any point in the city. Bars, restaurants but also many theatres are within walking distance.

Best Time to Go

St Petersburg's climate is mild compared to that of the more inland areas of Russia. The city is on the Baltic Sea, which makes winters relatively mild, but summers are not particularly hot either. Temperatures in winter can drop to minus 20ēc and in summer can exceed 20ēc. In the summer (July) you can see the famous spectacle known as White Nights where the sun doesn't drop below the horizon and in winter you can walk across the river on the frozen ice!
