About the 40-hour Weekend TEFL Course + Grammar Awareness Module
The 40-hour course is made up of the 20-hour Weekend TEFL course and the 20-hour online Grammar Awareness course.
The 20-hour Weekend Course
The 20hr weekend course will give you the basic training you need to be an English teacher. In just one weekend you will learn the skills and methodology that will give you the confidence to get out there and teach.
You will enjoy a fun, interactive and high-impact course. The Weekend course gives you the chance to work in front of a group and interact with others in a simulation class setting.
Over the two-day course you will be introduced to all the essential TEFL areas you need to walk into a classroom with confidence.
The weekend training will provide you with a valuable opportunity for face-to-face classroom instruction, getting a feel for what the classroom setting is like which enables role-playing opportunities that you could not take advantage of through our online course.
The Weekend TEFL course lasts two days from 9-8 on Saturday and 9-6 on Sunday. There will be short breaks where refreshments will be provided. (Lunch is not included.)
You'll cover the following topics:
Saturday 9am - 8pm
• Introduction and ice-breakers
• Classroom management
• An introduction to grammar
• A foreign language lesson: see what it's like on the other side
• Elicitation techniques
• Using the blackboard
• Functions: what we do with language
• Level checks: ensuring students get the right tuition for them
• Practice activities: guiding students in language use
• Free practice activity: letting students communicate
• Teaching practice preparation
• First teaching practice & feedback
Sunday 9am - 6pm
• Drama and role play
• Pronunciation & Intonation
• Reading & Listening: teaching comprehension skills
• Grammar: tenses and time
• Error correction: getting the most out of your students
• Final teaching practice preparation

The 20-hour Grammar Awareness Course
The Grammar Awareness Module is designed to give you confidence in English grammar.
This easy-to-use online module takes you through the rules and terminology of English grammar step by step.
The course helps you to get to grips with the Present Perfect and other grammar delicacies in your own time, own space and at your own pace. This part of the course is essential if you have no idea what the difference between the Present Continuous and Present Simple is. Studying grammar will be a revelation and will give you an enormous confidence boost both for you and your employer!
You work through the Grammar course in your own time in your own home, after completing the answer sheets you then return them to i-to-i for correction.
Is it for you?
To join the TEFL course you should have:
• Native or near-native English fluency
• A minimum age of 17
• One free weekend to take the course
• A desire to teach people to speak English
Non-native speakers should have a reasonable standard of English, i.e. a level equivalent to Cambridge Advanced (CAE) or IELTS 7.5.
No academic qualifications are required - enthusiasm is the only thing you need.

The course takes place at the Royal on the Park Hotel.
The hotel is of very high quality and is located in the heart of Brisbane.
There will be tea and coffee served throughout the weekend, but please remember to arrange your own food and accommodation.
