''I thought it was all good. I stayed with a host family and they were fantastic - great family and very welcoming throughout my time there. I liked the town - all very accesible and I especially enjoyed visiting the various wineries around the Mendoza area.''
(Clive Morgan- December 2005)
"I chose Cactus because you offered a course in Mendoza - which is the city I was desparate to study in. You... were also very professional in all correspondence and website is very easy to use. I can't recommend the school more highly - effective, enthusiastic teachers, great afternoon activities, and very flexible with lesson times and content. Mendoza has it all - sun, wine, the Andes and very friendly people. I'd recommend going trekking, climbing or horse riding in the nearby mountains, and checking out the many wineries. I was in a host family, which i was a bit unsure of before i arrived. I needn't have been, as the family were wonderful - v friendly, patient with my spanish, and flexible with meal times, etc.."

The school is part of a successful chain of schools that has been running Spanish courses in Argentina since 1971, focusing on the provision of quality Spanish tuition alongside real immersion in Argentine life and culture. It is located in downtown, five minutes away from the pedestrian area, and one block from the main avenue (Colon Avenue) which is the main access route from the local bus station, offering good public transport links, and close to the Town Hall. The school is just 7 blocks away from the Aristides Villanueva Avenue, well known for its restaurants, night clubs, pubs and international hostels.

| Staying with a host family is without doubt one of the best ways to immerse yourself in the language and culture of a country. They may not speak your language but that's all part of the learning experience - and fun! All host families are carefully selected and located within walking distance, or a short bus ride, of the school. You stay in a single room and receive meals as stated (bed & breakfast, half board or full board). Most families can cater for special dietary requirements, bed linen is provided, and laundry service and towels are sometimes included. A key is given to the outside door so you can come and go as you please. If for any reason you do not wish to eat at home please just notify the family in advance. It's great to experience the different cultural aspects of living with a family, such as different food and meal times, but please respect these too. We also suggest that you take some pictures of your family, friends and home as these can act as useful props for discussion. All familes are within a 20-35 minute journey (walking or bus) from the school. Students can choose single or double , half board or full board. The family provides bed linen. Laundry service is available once a week. Special meals can be provided for students with special needs. |

| A student residence can vary in size depending on location and availability. In some cases a residence is spread over one or more floors of a large building, accommodating students of all ages and nationalities, and in others it's more of a traditional, house-type environment. Residences are usually located in the city centre and are within walking distance, or a short bus ride, of the school. You stay in a single room, or double room if travelling with a friend, and receive meals as stated if offered in your location (bed & breakfast, half board or full board). The kitchen, bathroom and living areas are shared with other students, but in selected locations you may have your own bathroom. We recommend this type of accommodation if you're looking for independence whilst staying in a truly international environment. |
