Accommodation Options
Prices are per person, per week and include course and accommodation. Supplementary nights may be available. Accommodation prices may vary with season. See step 1 of the booking process for the final price.
 Host Family
Staying with a host family is without doubt one of the best ways to immerse yourself in the language and culture of a country. They may not speak your language but that's all part of the learning experience - and fun! All host families are carefully selected and usually located within walking distance, or a short bus ride, of the school; in larger capital cities, distances to the school can be further. The term ‘host family’ does not always mean a couple with children. Sometimes you may find that hosts are single people whose children have grown up and left home. Most hosts can cater for special dietary requirements, bed linen is provided, and laundry service and towels are sometimes included. A key is given to the outside door so you can come and go as you please. If for any reason you do not wish to eat at home you just need to notify your host in advance. It's great to experience the different cultural aspects of living with a family or host, such as different food and meal times, but please respect these too. We also suggest that you take some pictures of your family, friends and home as these can act as useful props for discussion.
Supplementary nights - $31 pp per night

 Shared Apartment
A shared apartment gives you the opportunity to live with foreign, and/or native, students in a friendly and independent environment. Just remember that you may have to make an effort to practise the language outside class! Apartments are located within walking distance, or a short bus ride, of the school. You stay in a single room, or double room if travelling with a friend, and share the kitchen, bathroom and living area with the other students. A deposit may be required upon arrival, and bed linen is provided but towels are not. Please remember that apartments abroad, and especially those in Europe, may not be of the same standard as in your home country: they are clean but they can be small and basic. Please also note that shared apartments fill up quickly during the summer, when there tends to be a higher number of younger students.

Residencia Moral de la Magdalena
A student residence can vary in size depending on location and availability. In some cases a residence is spread over one or more floors of a large building, accommodating students of all ages and nationalities, and in others it's more of a traditional, house-type environment. Residences are usually located in the city centre and are within walking distance, or a short bus ride, of the school. You stay in a single room, or double room if travelling with a friend, and receive meals as stated if offered in your location (bed & breakfast, half board or full board). The kitchen, bathroom and living areas are shared with other students, but in selected locations you may have your own bathroom. We recommend this type of accommodation if you're looking for independence whilst staying in a truly international environment.

What other students have said...
“I was really happy with my trip in Granada. Cactus provides an excellent service to accommodate your requests, looking for the language course that better suit your needs, and the classes and teachers in Granada are good.” (Mara Cristiani, August 2010)
“Granada is possibly the best place in Spain: friendly people, no hassles, great weather, many options of places to go for food and drinks. The school and courses are excellent! I’m in Education myself and I was extremely impressed with the calibre of the staff.” (Vaughan Kitson, July 2010)
“Cactus has a lot of choice of languages and destination and that is why I was attracted by their website and decided to use them for my trip to Spain. Granada is a very busy town and it is very easy to get into the Spanish way of life and I love that. The Spanish classes were very good and I learnt a lot during my stay. Last but not least the weather was just perfect.” (Lee Griffin, October 2009)
“I love Granada which is why I choose to go there. It is big enough not to be a village but small enough not to get lost in. I cannot think of one thing that I did not enjoy about the town. I had very good teachers at the school; there was exactly the right mix of grammar and conversation in the classes. That was a very good experience.” (Natalie Zara, Augusta 2009)
“Granada, the town and the people were fabulous. Siestas and late night eating culture is a way of life I could very easily fall into. I met a lot of different and friendly people both during and outside the course. I really enjoyed my lessons and I learnt a lot even for a 1 week stay. I was told that Cactus was a very good agency and I can confirm that; the staff members are very friendly and receptive to assisting you getting the most from your course.” (Natalie Clark, July 2009)
"A friend of mine did one of your Spanish courses in Valencia and loved it so I decided to do one too. Granada is a wonderful city. The classes and the school were brilliant. I would highly recommend it!"
(Sophie Robinson - January 2009)
"We thought the school had a very relaxing atmosphere and the teachers had the right blend of expertise and humour.
We stayed in an apartment in the center of the city. The apartment was of a very high standard and perfectly situated. We thought the city was wonderful, the shool and teachers first rate and we now feel extremely confident with our Spanish."
(Francis Heffron - June 2008)
"The teachers were excellent. The lessons were full immersion and the teachers spoke Spanish almost the entire time, rather than use English, even though they were fluent in English. The pace of the classes was challenging but not excessively fast. The school was well located in a central area of Granada. I enjoyed practicing and improving Spanish with locals, and learning more about Spanish culture."
(Maxine Nelson - February 2008)
"The course was great, intensive but inspiring. The quality of teaching very high and Ines, Christina and Adele were excellent. They complemented the programme with a great range of cultural activities which added much to the week. English was rarely spoken after the first day. Given the different starting points they had to cope with in class I doubt anyone could have done better."
(Tom and Lyn, January 2008))
"The course administration was on the whole very good. The three teachers balanced each other well and it was easy to see the rapid progression of my colleagues within a relatively short period of time.
I enjoyed the course and a lot of my Spanish, which I thought had been forgotten, has come back more so than I had anticipated."
(Peter, November 2007)
"Wow! What an amazing week in Granada - muy bonita y muy diversion! I have learnt so much - from not speaking a word of Spanish to being able to string together simple sentences in the present tense. My Spanish speaking friend is very impressed!
The girls were terrific and so helpful - muy simpatico! They were super teachers as well."
(Claire, October 2007)
