This is the most popular group course and runs throughout the year at all levels from beginners to advanced. Classes focus on the four main language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, combined with aspects of local culture. This course is recommended for those who wish to learn the language at a steady pace and attracts students of all ages and backgrounds. Classes usually take place Monday to Friday in the morning, although in high season they make take place in the afternoon.

"L'école était parfaite, familiale et les professeurs super, en une semaine de cours j'ai appris énormément. C'est une superbe experience que je recommencerai surement. Les locaux sont simples, clairs et plaisants, et l'ecole est bien située au coeur de Faro ce qui m'a permis de faire pas mal de visites. J'ai adoré le contact avec les professeurs et le contact avec des personnes de diverses nationnalités....
Les cours étaient clairs et vraiment bien adaptés à mon niveau. On a pu assister á des activités extra-scolaires comme des visites du musée, du centre historique de Faro avec une guide super qui parlait anglais et portugais. Ce que j'ai le moins apprecié c'est la durée de mon séjour, une semaine c'etait trop court!"

"Very friendly, relaxed atmosphere. All teachers very friendly. My teacher, Lurdes, very competent and [Thank God!] excellent understanding of grammar and prepared to explain all the ramifications to me - a grammar fanatic. The only suggestion I would make is that 3 consecutive hours with the same teacher is hard on the students and very tough on the teachers. I think a little rotation would be beneficial. Faro is very pleasant but there was very little going on in May."

:: The School
The school is located near the pedestrian shopping street of St. Antonio in the heart of the city, within walking distance of the waterfront and main attractions. There are 6 classrooms (3 for 1-to-1 tuition only), equipped with TV, video and audio materials. The building itself is a gorgeous house typical of Portuguese architecture, and there is a central terrace where you can have your lessons in the summer to make the most of the hot weather!
In Faro, students are in easy reach of all the watersports and beaches of the Algarve, and the friendly school staff will be happy to help you plan activities and excursions. It is easily accessible thanks to Faro airport, yet not filled with tourists as most of them head to the main resorts of Albufeira or Portimao.
Although most people think that the Algarve is a sunny place all year round, it has four well-defined seasons in terms of temperature and rainfall. The lowest temperature in winter never goes below 0ºC, and the hottest days in summer reach 40ºC. The warm climate, the beaches and the sunny weather, makes Faro district a very popular summer resort.
A monthly programme of activities is available to the students including visits to museums, monuments, evening outings to live music concerts, bars, and Saturday half-day visits to points of interest. Also available are full-day Sunday excursions and typical dinners, at an extra cost, to be paid locally.

Staying with a host family is without doubt one of the best ways to immerse yourself in the language and culture of a country. They may not speak your language but that's all part of the learning experience - and fun! All host families are carefully selected and located within walking distance, or a short bus ride, of the school. You stay in a single room and receive meals as stated (bed & breakfast, half board or full board). Most families can cater for special dietary requirements, bed linen is provided, and laundry service and towels are sometimes included. A key is given to the outside door so you can come and go as you please. If for any reason you do not wish to eat at home please just notify the family in advance. It's great to experience the different cultural aspects of living with a family, such as different food and meal times, but please respect these too. We also suggest that you take some pictures of your family, friends and home as these can act as useful props for discussion.
