our hot language holidays!

 Destination of the Month: Guanajuato, Mexico

* Festival Cervantino Internacional: 6th-24th October *

‘Place of frogs’, or Quanax-Huato, is what the Tarascan Indians named it. And ‘place of silver’ is probably what the Spanish conquistadores would have called this beautiful central highland city if they could. Set in a narrow gorge amid wild, breathtaking scenery, Guanajuato is a treasure trove of colonial architecture, elegant buildings and fine museums.

No wonder, then, that it is has earned itself World Heritage status, making it the perfect host for the annual International Cervantine Festival. Not only does this celebrate the life of Miguel de Cervantes, the author of the classic novel 'Don Quijote', it is also a huge artistic and cultural feast showcasing the best of contemporary dance, ballet, music, opera, theatre and film from all over the world. Come here to learn Spanish and you really couldn't ask for a better cultural immersion...

"We wanted to send you feedback after our week in Guanajuato. It's a great place to learn Spanish! We have had an excellent week and the course has been great. All the teachers have been wonderful: they are very positive and enthusiastic, the lessons have been really interesting, and we have learnt a lot. Our host family have also been great - very welcoming and very accommodating. We would definitely recommend this school and hope to return one day. Thanks and kindest regards." Nova Thomas

Mary Sweetman: 2 Week Mini-Group Italian Course in Tropea, Aug 04

"Apologies for not being in touch before re. my two weeks in Tropea. The course was wonderful: great teachers and extremely professional. The accommodation was superb too, so thank you very much for everything. I now want to keep it up and wondered if you have any Italian teachers here in Dublin? Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you."

"I was very pleased with my total immersion Italian course in Elba. The school was very well run and it was in a great location. The teachers were excellent and the activities for the "Tender Heart" (over 50) was fun and interesting. The Island of Elba is beautiful! It was a wonderful experience. Please feel free to use me as a reference. Thank you for all your help."

Rachel Stone: 1 Week Spanish & Salsa Group Holiday in Barcelona, Sept 04

"Hola! I really enjoyed the holiday, so thanks for all your organising - everything ran so smoothly.

Spanish lessons - the teachers were great and the classes fun. It's a great way of meeting more people in Barcelona - but it just made me realise that one week is no way near enough to make an impact on my Spanish!

Salsa lessons - Oh My God. Adrian and Sandra are the most amazing dancers, and the classes were so energetic! With only 8 people taking lessons, and initially only 3 of us in the intermediate/advanced class, we practically had one on one tuition with the Spanish national champion. I really felt I improved across the week, particularly as they teach LA style, and I've only really learned Cuban. It's good to know both. Adrian and Sandra were great at recommending which clubs to go to on which nights too.

So all in all a great week. I've come back desperate for some sleep and about 3lbs lighter (seriously!). I am also considering asking my boss for a transfer to Barcelona. Thanks again - I'll be sure to keep an eye on your website for any other holidays coming up (but the French & Surfing will definitely take a back seat to Spanish & Salsa!)"

For more details of Rachel's holiday please email Laura.
