Also known as ‘the eternal city’, Xian is the capital of Shaanxi province in the Northwest of China. It is one of the birthplaces of the ancient civilization in the Yellow River Basin area of the country and along with Athens, Cairo, and Rome is known as one of the four major ancient civilization capitals.
It’s a very popular tourist destination in China, and differs from the large, modern cities due to its wealth of historical sites, rich cultural relics, and beautiful scenery. Xian is also the starting point of the famous Silk Road to the West.
Xian’s most famous tourist attraction is The Terracotta Warriors and Horses, created about 2,200 years ago and found in 1974 on the east side of the tomb of the First Emperor Qin Shihuang.
