Do you want to learn Spanish, be active, enjoy your holidays, meet people, and discover a new country? Then Sosua is the right place for you. This small seaside town on the north coast of the Dominican Republic offers a great variety of activities like swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving. Cabarete, one of the world’s top spots for wind and kite surfing, is just a 15-minute drive away. At night people go out to one of the numerous beach bars, restaurants, and discos, enjoy getting to meet the locals, having a chat, dancing, and partying together.
Sosua serves also as a perfect base camp for excursions into the countryside. It is located about 25km east of Puerto Plata and 12km west of Cabarete. Two villages mainly shape the town: Los Charamicos, a formerly sleepy fishing village with its typically Dominican ambiance, and El Batey, a commercial and residential area with restaurants, shops and hotels. Both districts are connected by one of the finest beaches in the Dominican Republic: Playa Sosua, more than half a mile of soft, golden-yellow sand, tucked in a cove sheltered by coral cliffs and crystal-clear water.
