Situated on an island on Lake Petén Itzá, Flores is a tranquil village that offers visitors a really authentic insight into the Guatemalan way of life. It's a very attractive spot, with old cobbled streets and pastel-coloured colonial houses, and, although small, serves as a great base for exploring nearby Tikal, Guatemala’s most famous Mayan ruins. Flores has a reputation as a very safe and friendly place, which means that students visitors find it easy to get to know the locals and to practise their Spanish.
The school is located right in the heart of Flores, in a beautiful national heritage building, although the temperate climate there means that classes can be taken in the school's lovely tropical garden too. Spanish course options include both General and Individual Spanish, and accommodation is offered in a student residence or with a local host family.
