Known as the 'eternal spring' Cuernavaca has, since colonial times, been an escape for the wealthy and fashionable from the heat and congestion of Mexico City. With its popularity reaching so far back as to include Aztec nobility, the city today attracts a great many visitors who come to explore the many museums and galleries and soak up the ambiance at the local restaurants and cafes. The town is a buzzing centre for artists and intellectuals - not least those coming to brush up their language skills, of which there are many. It's easy to why though: from the lively Zócalo area to the famed Palacio de Cortés, Cuernavaca has a rich heritage, a buzzing nightlife and, as you could expect of a town well used to tourists, a wide variety of food and drink to suit all tastes.
