Often referred to as one of Europe’s most underrated countries, Poland has a unique identity that is forged from a long, and at times tumultuous, history. Much of the past is still evident in the architecture, and the people, but Poland is embracing of change and optimistic about its future. Since joining the EU especially, Polish cities have become much more modern, not only in a physical sense, but in terms of culture too. Happily though, this modernisation has not quite spread to the more rural areas of Poland, which continue to retain their rustic charm and natural beauty. Counted amongst some of the natural highlights in these areas are the the clear waters of the Great Masurian Lakes and the long, sandy beaches of the Baltic coast.
