Junior German Courses

Cactus offers Junior German courses for youngsters aged 11 to 19 years within Europe. These courses take the form of all-inclusive summer language camps, day camps and specialist football activities packages across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Specifically geared to younger learners, they offer a safe, fun and truly international environment in which to learn German and learn more about the local language and culture, whilst making friends with others of the same age from different countries around the world.

The courses develop confidence and competence in the use of German by exposing the student to the language every waking moment, by communicating with teachers, staff, their classmates from other language backgrounds, in class, excursions and group activities – and, if they are in a home-stay, with the German family.

Course work focuses on their all-important speaking and listening skills, so important for getting the highest grades in the GCSEs // Junior High exams // Middle School exams and for the [A-Levels and AS levels // Senior High examinations, as well as covering the no less important refinement and expansion of grammar and active reading and writing skills. This will help them not only with results, but also in developing more fluent communication skills in the language. All the teachers speak German as their first language, and are qualified to teach German as a Foreign Language to Juniors, as well as having experience in the expectations and needs of Secondary School pupils.

Cactus fully appreciates the concerns parents may have about sending their children away, and for this reason we only work with schools that offer the best care, tuition and extra-curricular activities. We are also happy to talk through the options and answer any questions you may have prior to booking. It is safe to say that most children who go to a German language camp end up not wanting to leave - yet, when they do, they return home with a range of new skills, increased confidence in German, and of course new friends from all corners of the globe.

This is one of the courses we offer in Switzerland, which provides a truly international environment in which to learn a language (German, French or English), receive expert ski tuition and participate in a fun-packed activities programme. During the summer, a junior language camp is held at the same language and activity centre in the picturesque village of Les Sciernes, providing small-group German classes alongside a host of summer mountain pursuits.
