Birthplace of the Beatles, Liverpool will never lose its place on the worldwide map of music, culture and legend. The Famous Four may no longer be around, but this lively city on England's north-west coast is enjoying the good times again. Sitting on the River Mersey, its historic waterfront and docks were declared a World Heritage Site in 2004 – boasting the most listed buildings in any English city except London – and the whole city indulged in a face lift when it was voted European City of Culture in 2008. Visitors are spoilt for choice with first-class museums and galleries – many free – and excellent bars, restaurants and nightlife.
Anyone coming to learn English in Liverpool can’t help but notice the city’s love of sport; football is the big passion, and if you take your course in April you may also catch the prestigious Grand National. You will meet people from all over the world whilst studying at the school, and be able to explore all that the city has to offer with the friends you make in class. In addition to your English course in Liverpool, accommodation can be arranged in comfortable host families or in a student residence or apartment.
