Lake Constance is a large and beautiful lake on the Rhine, located in the foothills of the Alps. The town of Constance, known as Konstanz in German, is situated at the western end of the Lake, in the south-west corner of Germany near to the Swiss border. It is a lively university town of about 80,000 inhabitants, and has a large Old Town, or Altstadt, full of twisting alleyways, attractive old buildings and charming cafés. Due to its proximity to Switzerland, Constance was spared bombing during World War II and as such has remained a true historic gem, with original medieval buildings dating from centuries back.
The school in Constance is just five minutes from the lake and students learning German here benefit from a variety of leisure activities outside class, from skiing in the nearby mountains to horse riding, biking, windsurfing and tennis. Constance also offers a range of cultural events including film and theatre, jazz concerts and literature meetings. Accommodation is included in the course price and is provided in the school’s own on-site residence on a full board basis.
