The Bavarian town of Lindau is located on an island in the eastern part of Lake Constance, or ‘der Bodensee’ as it’s known in German. Lindau is rich in history and has a pretty, medieval old town with some beautiful renaissance-style buildings, 15th century squares and ancient churches. Possibly Lindau's finest feature though is its setting – it’s surrounded by lakes, orchards, vineyards and forests, and has the stunning Austrian and Swiss Alps as a backdrop. Lindau is a great place to study German, with enough entertainment and free-time options to keep you occupied, but a tranquil setting and relaxed atmosphere that is conducive to learning.
There are a range of German courses for students to choose from, and the option to stay in either a student residence or with a local German host family. Given that it’s not on the mainstream tourist trail, studying German in Lindau will give you a great insight into the German way of life, and ample opportunity to practise your language skills.
