Brighton - Central
Little has really changed since the 1780s when Prince Regent, soon to be King George IV, came to Brighton and decided that this was the place to party. He built the Royal Pavilion for such a purpose - and since then some of the hottest clubs and venues outside London have been built here, on Britain's lively south coast. Trendy, diverse, and distinctly cosmopolitan, Brighton is within an hour of London and is now almost favoured over the capital for its outstanding restaurants, countless pubs and bars, successful arts scene, lively student population, and, of course, beach. There may be pebbles instead of sand, and there may be rain as well as sun, but you can't help but be drawn down here for that impromptu picnic, that beer at sunset, and those views of the horizon - hanging out, that is, in true Brightonian style.
