The school stands in the Canongate area in the most historic street in Scotland, the Royal Mile. With tall stone buildings, narrow streets, museums and churches, the Old town has a rich cultural and historic atmosphere. The school building itself is a former church that has been transformed to create bright, well-equipped classrooms and study facilities of an exceptional standard. The centre combines language lessons with an extensive cultural and social programme. These activities are not designed as 'after lesson' activities but rather as an integral part of the course. The school's philosophy is that learning should be fun and it should not just stop at the classroom door.
The teaching is performed in small group classes of 5 to 9, by highly qualified teachers who are committed professionals. The teachers believe in small groups as the key to effective learning. A small group gives individuals the confidence to converse with both the teacher and other students. Regular testing is carried out to make sure the courses are working for each student.
