Located in the centre of Edinburgh, a short walk away from the castle and Princes Street, a vibrant street where the people of Edinburgh shop. Housed in a Georgian townhouse, and with a beautiful mix of large spacious rooms and peaceful study spaces, the school gives students the opportunity to learn English in the very heart of Scotland's capital.
Like the city itself, the school has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Classrooms are bright and spacious. Facilities include a listening and computer centre, a library, a big student lounge with vending machines, as well as free internet and WiFi access.
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and has a population of some 500,000 people. It is one of the most historic cities in Europe and is situated only a few kilometres from glorious countryside. The city is built on seven hills and is divided into the old and the new towns. The old town is the medieval area of Edinburgh whereas the New Town dates from the eighteenth century. The school is in the West End of the New Town. The city's rich history and tradition provide a warm, safe and accessible centre. Edinburgh does not, however, live on its past. Today it is a bustling commercial centre with a dynamic and vibrant arts scene. It is also a great place for shopping and has excellent restaurants.
Out and About
Pick up any postcard of Edinburgh and the first thing will probably see is the Castle. This is no ordinary castle, however: dominating the city, and set on a volcanic crag with three vertical sides, this place of former defense and royal residence is breathtaking both inside and out. Going down Castle Esplanade you join the famous Royal Mile, an enchanting street lined with 15th century buildings and more recently erected pubs and restaurants. Other peeks into the citys past are easy to spot: Gladstones Land, St Giles Cathedral, Tron Kirk and John Knoxs House… but at the end of the day it is no fun coming to Scotland without sampling their water of life at the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre or their national dish, haggis. And should you come in August you will be treated to the world's largest international arts festival, the accompanying Fringe Festival, and the Military Tattoo - on the offchance, that is, that you have any spare time to fill.
