Nassau is the capital of the Bahamas, and is actually home to just under three quarters of the island's entire population. A popular destination for cruise ships and private yachts, Nassau is often associated with glitz and glamour, but this hasn't always been the case - Bahamas' strategic location near trade routes and its multitude of islands made it somewhat of a 'pirate haven' until the early eighteenth century!
Nassau is a city that is steeped in history and culture and has a marvellously laid-back, yet very vibrant, atmosphere. Its reputation as a playground for the rich and famous can sometimes detract from Nassau's Caribbean identity, but upon setting foot in the city you will experience immediately the colourful hustle and bustle that this part of the world is so famous for.
