Located in the Centre region of France, Tours and its surrounding areas are well-known for quality wines, fairytale chateaux, and for the alleged ‘purity’ of the local spoken French. Tours has huge historical significance relating to various periods in time, and actually enjoyed two brief spells as the capital of France. The city itself is a very attractive spot, not only due to its wealth of historic buildings and monuments, but also because of its large number of parks – an attribute which has earned Tours the title of "garden of Franceâ€.
