:: Welcome to Heidelberg

Heidelberg nestles in the romantic Neckar valley in Germany's western state of Baden-Württemberg. It is the country's oldest university town, with some 30,000 students making a sizeable but lively impact on the lives of the existing 140,000 inhabitants. Come the summer, however, and the population more than doubles, as tourists from all over flock to the city. Heidelberg is a hugely attractive place, surrounded by wooded hills and overlooked by a magnificent 13th century castle. Within the city itself, there’s also a beautiful Aldstadt, with scores of traditional pubs and bars lining the cobbled streets, and a good number of students and locals to fill them.

Students who learn German in Heidelberg have a choice of course levels, lengths and types – General German, Individual German and Intensive German courses are all offered. Staying with a local host family will give you plenty of chance to practise your German, and will give you a great insight into the German way of life. It’ll also give you access to lots of priceless local information, whether it's on upcoming events in the area, or where to buy the best pretzels in town!
