| Ukraine is the second largest country in Europe, and is located in the eastern part of the continent. As you’d expect from any country so vast, Ukraine is home to a range of beautiful landscapes, ranging from the Carpathian Mountains in the east to the sunny coastlines and blue seas of Crimea in the north. After centuries under Russian rule Ukraine gained independence in 1991, but the Russian language remains one of the most widely spoken in the country. Good travel routes, less stringent visa requirements than other Russian speaking countries, great value for money, friendly people and fascinating history and culture are just a few things that make Ukraine a great place to learn Russian.
