London - Greenwich
Located on the River Thames in South London, Greenwich is a World Heritage site best known for its maritime history and for being home to Greenwich Mean Time and the Meridian Line. A popular riverside resort back in the 17th century, Greenwich today attracts visitors with its historical landmarks such as the Cutty Sark, the National Maritime Museum and the impressive Royal Naval College. It also boasts The O2, a large entertainment and sporting area housing an indoor arena, cinema, bars, restaurants and more.
Greenwich is a great place to learn English if you want easy access to the heart of London but don't want to be right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Only 20 minutes from Central London, it is easy to reach by Docklands Light Railway, tube, rail, bus or riverboat. Greenwich is an ideal location for students keen on watersports as rowing has always been an important part of life on the river here. Leisure activities in Greenwich Park are also popular with students taking an English course in Greenwich, many of whom end a day of classes relaxing in a riverside pub - a typically English activity.
