Otranto
If you consider Italy to be a boot, then Otranto is located at the very bottom of its high heel. Known as the Salento peninsula, this southern promontory is located in the Lecce province of Puglia, a region long-known to Italians for its wonderful beaches, ornate Baroque towns, ancient ruins and fairytale cottages (trulli), but lesser known to foreign visitors - at present.
