Travelling to and from the UK after Brexit

Advice on Travelling to and from the UK after Brexit

The UK is due to leave the European Union after 29th March 2019. Here, we outline how this will impact your language holiday travel arrangements and give you reassurance that you can plan and book your language holiday with confidence.

Entering and leaving the UK after 29 March 2019

From 29 March 2019 until the end of 2020

There will be very few changes for students travelling to the UK after Friday 29 March 2019 until December 2020. During this time, anyone from the EU or EEA can enter the UK exactly as they do now.
If there is no deal, anyone who wants to stay for more than three months will need to apply online for a European Temporary Leave to Remain. This permit will be valid for three years.

ID cards

ID cards will be accepted for entry to the UK until December 2020, whether there is a deal or not.

Travel from the UK

Travel to European countries will remain unrestricted. You must ensure you have at least 6 months left on your passport before it expires in order to travel.

Erasmus + programmes
If there is a deal between the UK and the EU these are likely to continue as now. If there is no deal, funding for these is guaranteed if the programme begins before Saturday 30 March 2019.
