"I chose Cactus because of excellent previous experience. The school in Guadeloupe was very suitable and the class sizes were never above 5-6 people. We changed teacher each week which gave me consistency with a teacher for a week and the other students in my class but also variety and was excellent. The first teacher was really really brilliant and made the subject alive and understandable. The second... wasn't as good but had a different style and teaching priorities which was also useful.
Saint-Anne is a lovely part of Guadeloupe and certainly excellent for students as its quite busy with a range of shops, restaurants and bars without being somewhere you could easily get lost of feel unsafe. I saw quite a bit of the island(s) while I was there and think Saint-Anne was really suitable for the school. I would recommend it for future clients.
I enjoyed the language courses each morning and meeting the other students. I have never spoken just French for 2 weeks solid (no English) and really enjoyed the challenge."

"Thought you might like to know that we had a great time in Guadeloupe. We ended up with a cottage near the beach that was fantastic. The school staff were very sympathetic and the teachers were great. Thanks for your help and regards, Helene and John"

"I chose Cactus because their website was the nicest! I enjoyed my teacher and I thought the classes went well. The town of St Anne was gorgeous. I stayed with a host family and I enjoyed staying there. The food was excellent and the care was great. I enjoyed staying with Francoise Maurinier, she was a beautiful, wonderful and sweet hostess. I was quite lucky. The beaches of Guadeloupe are gorgeous, the day to day life was quite enjoyable and the people were friendly. I enjoyed every moment of my trip."

The General Course is scheduled to have 20 lessons per week, but every fortnight the school runs a cultural excursion as part of the lessons on a Friday. Therefore the lessons on a Friday will sometimes be out of the classroom.
The school organizes a study visit or a conference once every two weeks; e.g. a conference on the creole language, local music and traditions, the rastafari culture or a visit to a distillery, banana plantation, Pointe-à-Pitre and its' architecture. They are part of the programme, each event is prepared beforehand in the class with the teacher and the visits are made either with the teacher or a professional guide or both. The conferences usually take place from 10:30 till 12:00, visits may take two hours or more.
Please also note that the Caribbean way of life is very different to that of the UK and Europe. The general efficiency and infrastructure is likely to be different to what you are used to, so please take this into account when planning your trip to the island.
Summer is actually a great time to visit the islands because lodging rates are much lower and the beaches, roads and restaurants are not crowded. Of course, winter and the Christmas/New Year holidays are traditionally the most popular time to go. December through May is considered the dry season, while June through November is considered the more humid season. However rain showers or clear skies can occur at any time during the year.
Average air temperatures in coastal areas range from 22º to 30ºC and in inland areas, from 19º to 27ºC. Naturally, travelers will find more rain and cooler temperatures in the rain forests and higher elevations. The warm coastal water temperatures stay between 20º and 23ºC.
