Antibes, France

You know it's going to be a good day when you wake up to a bowl of steaming hot chocolate and fresh croissants. There are some things the French just know how to do right.

More about France>>

:: Welcome to Antibes
Nestled on the Baie des Anges on France's glamorous Côte d'Azur, Antibes may at first seem an unlikely place to learn French. But let's leave the cocktails and canapés to the big boys in St Tropez. In Antibes you can dunk your croissant under the Riviera sun, on a pristine white beach if you choose, but in an environment that's much more traditional and laid-back. Sheltered by its 16th century ramparts, present-day Antibes has an attractive harbour and a charming historic centre of narrow, winding streets. Oh, and the minor detail of a glistening Mediterranean right on the doorstep.

Plus points
Great location on Côte d'Azur
Pleasant climate year-round
Historic centre
Easy access from Nice
Excellent accommodation options
Over the years Antibes has appealed to many artists such as Picasso and Max
Ernst who flocked there to absorb the town's charm and ambience.
Greater Antibes is made up of three main parts: Place Général
de Gaulle (the commercial centre); Vieil Antibes (Old Antibes);
and Juan-les-Pins (residential area). If you travel along the Côte
d'Azur the towns of Nice and Cannes are worth exploring, or simply
spend your time in Antibes and soak up the relaxing atmosphere of
its pristine beaches.
