Montpellier, France

You know it's going to be a good day when you wake up to a bowl of steaming hot chocolate and fresh croissants. There are some things the French just know how to do right.

More about France>>

:: Welcome to Montpellier
The art of living Mediterranean-style has been
long been perfected in Montpellier. Nestled in the Golfe du Lion,
the capital of France's Languedoc region is a thriving university
city, the nerve centre of France’s south-west. Radiating out
from Place de la Comédie is the pedestrianised Centre Historique,
a maze of attractive, winding streets, open-air terrasses and luxurious
private mansions, or hôtels particuliers. And holding all
this in are wide tree-lined boulevards and an impeccable new tram
system that will have the most stubborn motorist leaving their car
keys at home.

Interesting history
Warm Mediterranean climate
Near beaches & mountains
Cultural festivals throughout the year

With its beautiful historic centre, narrow cobbled streets and
excellent shopping
facilities, Montpellier is perfect for leisurely wandering. As home
to one of
the oldest universities in France and a wide range of cultural events,
Montpellier
has an atmosphere of learning spiced with all the life and colour
of a Mediterranean city. With its many cafes and terraces it is
easy to while away a few hours, sampling some typical Mediterranean
food and soaking up the atmosphere. Yet only a few kilometres away,
the beaches offer ample opportunities for watersports and afternoons
in the sun, and further afield the coastline boasts picturesque
fishing ports and places of historical interest.
