Tarragona is a pleasant coastal resort approximately 100km south
of Barcelona on Spain’s Costa Dorada. It is a provincial capital
and has a population of about 120,000, and as such makes an ideal
location for our Junior programmes. The town is lively but not too
big, it has its own sandy beaches within walking distance of the
school, it is close to Port Aventura (one of Europe’s largest
theme parks) and is only one hour by bus or train from Barcelona.
It is also home to some of the best preserved Roman ruins on the
Iberian peninsula, including an ancient amphitheatre by the sea,
thanks to its strategic coastal position and easy access to the
rest of Europe. Students coming here to learn Spanish can enjoy
all this and more in a warm Mediterranean climate.
Plus points:
Great mix of old & new
Attractive larger version of Granada
Outdoors tapas & sangria way of life
Vibrant Semana Santa celebrations
Proximity to Spain's south coast
