Job Summary

As an EFL Teacher at Stafford House, you will work with students from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds. This is a unique opportunity to interact with them inside and outside of the classroom.

✅ Salary: – Basic rate of £355.00 per week for residential positions. £400 for non-residential positions. Non-residential positions at London Bankside, London Bloomsbury, London Uxbridge and Cambridge £495.00. Accrued holiday pay of 12.07% of total gross pay and Increments awarded

Key responsibilities

✅ Be fully conversant with our policies for the welfare and protection of children.
✅ Teach English to a high standard, following our in-house syllabus, with an emphasis on oral communication
✅ Actively assist in the supervision of sports and/or games or arts and crafts, and social activities
✅ Lead students on excursions, ensuring their safety and welfare
✅ Provide students with information and encouragement to learn, helping them to make the most from their stay
✅ Carry out welfare duties as directed by the Welfare team
✅ Carry out admin duties and maintain proper records as directed

Job requirements

Essential:

✅ Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert. TESOL

Job Summary

The DOS’s key responsibility is the implementation, smooth running, administration and ultimately successful delivery of all aspects of the academic programme on centre. The role is a senior management position therefore the DOS is expected to fulfil a demanding workload.

Managing: EFL Teachers, GLs & International students.

Location

✅ 16 centres across the UK.

Key responsibilities

Teaching and Academic:

✅ Implement and manage all day-to-day aspects of the academic programme.
✅ Hold weekly Group Leader meetings and respond to any student or Group Leader queries on academic matters.
✅ Manage the teaching staff to create a positive, enthusiastic team to deliver a high quality programme ensuring student satisfaction.
✅ Appraise and provide feedback on all teaching staff providing support and guidance on all aspects of lesson preparation and delivery.
✅ Organise and manage the Placement and Exit Testing of students, academic time-tabling, course planning and student graduation.
✅ Be responsible for collecting both early and final student feedback.
✅ Ensure that all lessons start and end on time.
✅ Organise and oversee the delivery of Trinity exams (if applicable at centre).
✅ Liaise closely with the AD/AAD in maintaining all academic administration.
✅ Teach when required to meet operational demands.
✅ Liaise with the HSA to ensure that the activities programme and academic programme are integrated successfully.
✅ Support the CD to aid the smooth and effective running of the centre and assist the CD to set up and close the centre.
✅ Write a full job specific report at the end of the course for the Academic Director.
✅ Submit all paperwork, including registers, class profiles, Weekly Records of Work and appraisals/references for all EFL teachers.

Training and Induction

✅ Complete Ardmore Online Training prior to centre arrival.
✅ Attend Centre Management Training.
✅ Attend and respond positively to appraisal from CD & AD.
✅ Lead the Induction Day for EFL Teachers & run weekly (CPD) Workshops for all teachers.
✅ Actively seek further training if needed.

Student Welfare

✅ Check class registers on a daily basis to ensure against student absenteeism.
✅ Work closely with the management team to respond to, monitor and report and issues or concerns raised by staff, students or otherwise.
✅ Monitor teaching staff levels to ensure that the appropriate staffing levels are maintained and inform the CD of any concerns.
✅ Complete individual student Progress Reports where necessary and final certificates.
✅ Carry out residential duties on a rota basis, including meal supervision, lights out duties, room checks and additional duties as required.

✅ Assist the DOS with student testing and placement.
✅ Teach English to a high standard following the syllabus set out in the Ardmore Language Schools’ workbooks and academic programme.
✅ Prepare and deliver lessons with the aim of achieving the objectives and outcomes of the Ardmore Language Schools’ syllabus.
✅ Use teaching techniques that are appropriate to the level and needs of the students making every effort to create a positive learning environment enabling students to participate purposefully in the lessons.
✅ Make lessons stimulating and enjoyable with particular emphasis on the practical use of the English language (e.g. speaking and listening skills)
✅ Administer and mark course assessments tasks as well as marking Placement and Exit Tests.
✅ Maintain excellent class administration including lesson preparation, class registration and monitoring student progress and ensure that this is submitted each week.
✅ Ensure that, in the lesson prior to an excursion, students are prepared and informed about their forthcoming excursion (e.g. class discussion, pre- excursion lesson handouts, etc).

The SEFL Teacher’s key responsibility is providing ongoing support for EFL teachers in the preparation, co-ordination and teaching of English as part of the academic programme. All SEFL Teachers report directly to the DOS and work closely with them to assist in the student testing, timetabling, progress monitoring and administration of EFL classes.
