| Not yet on the well-trodden tourist path, this Baltic gem of a country is one that is working hard to emerge from its Soviet past with a shiny new image, and so far it’s doing well. The Latvia of today is vibrant, welcoming and affordable, and, in fact, has way more to offer than just the entertainment scene for which it has become most well-known. Riga itself has beautiful cobbled streets and some stunning architecture, and away from the capital city you will find a nice pace of life and some lovely historic villages.
