| Russia, or the Russian Federation as it’s formally known, is a vast and powerful country that has one of the most interesting, but most turbulent histories in the world. As is to be expected of a country so huge, it is massively varied in terms not only of the race, religion and language of the people who live there, but also of the landscapes that it spans. Although Russia has always been considered a country for the adventurous traveller, cities like St Petersburg and Moscow are now firmly on the tourist trail and via such iconic buildings as the Kremlin and the Hermitage offer a fascinating insight into the history and culture of this formidable country.
